                   THE N.W.A.-ICE CUBE BEEF

The begining:
Ice Cube was a part of the N.W.A. group, but he left the group in 1989 because of financial issues.
He began his solo career, and he did not insult his former group members on his first album, even though N.W.A. members called him a traitor.

Beef:
N.W.A.
were first to throw a punch,with the 2 songs on their 1990 EP,''100 Miles and Runnin'''.The tittle track contained the line:''We started with five,but yo/One couldn't take it-So now it's four/Cause the fifth couldn't make it'/The number's even-Now I'm leavin'''.This was a subtle diss to Ice Cube.

Also the song from this EP,called ''Real Niggaz'' was a diss to Ice Cube.

Ice Cube
still didn't respond to those disses with a song,he just briefly responded on his 1990 song ''Jackin' Fo' Beats'',with the line:''And if I jack you and you keep comin',I'l have you marks a 100 miles and running''!

N.W.A again responded on the song ''Alwayz Into Somethin''',from their last album ''Niggaz4Life'',released May 28,1991.They dissed Ice Cube with the line:''Dre I was speakin' to yo' bitch O'Shea'',(Ice Cube's real name is O'Shea Jackson).

Ice Cube finally responded with the famous diss song ''No Vaseline'',which was released October 29,1991.

Afetrmath:
You can really say that Ice Cube won this beef, because he responded so strongly that N.W.A didn't respond back. Not only that, but N.W.A broke down shortly after Ice Cube's diss.
Dr. Dre left the group and started dissing Eazy-E himself. He and Ice Cube reconciled in 1993,and all remaining, former N.W.A members did too, shortly before Eazy-E's death on March 26,1995.

                       THE JAY-Z-NAS BEEF

The begining:
The Jay-Z-Nas rivalry began after the death of Notorious B.I.G. in 1997,because two of them were candidates for the new ''King of New York''.The two were friends at the begining of their careers, but the friendship broke up when Nas and his groupmate AZ,didn't appear,as planned,on the Jay-Z song ''Bring it On''.Also,Jay-Z didn't pay Nas for using a vocal sample from his song ''The World is Yours'',as the chorus to his song ''Dead Presidents''.

Beef:
The actual beef started after Memphis Bleek made a reference to Nas,in his song ''My Mind Right''.The line ''your lifestyle's written'',was taken as a diss to the tittle of Nas' album ''It was written'', by Nas' friends and associates, the rap duo Mobb Deep.
Nas initially didn't want to respond, but Mobb Deep's Prodigy, and his friend now deceased rapper E-Money Bags (more about him, soon*) did,in some of his songs and interviews.
After that,beef officially started.

Jay-Z was first to make a diss song.He started with ''The Takeover''.

After the freestyle,''H to the Omo'',on the New York hip hop station Hot'97,Nas responded with his famous diss song,''Ether''.

Finally,Jay-Z responded with ''Supa Ugly''.

Aftermath:
The radio station Hot'97,issued a poll, asking their listeners which rapper made a better diss song,Nas with ''Ether'',or Jay-Z with ''Supa Ugly''.Nas won with
52%-48% ratio, also his song ''Ether'',was declared by the hip hop fans worldwide as one of the best diss songs ever.

Jay-Z and Nas discontinued their beef after 2002,making the beef  last, from 2001 to 2003,even though official beef ending was on Jay-Z's concert ''I Declare War''.in 2005,in which Nas was the guest artist. Also Nas signed for Def Jam Records in 2006,while Jay-Z was still a president of it,making this beef over for good.

Also:
Jay-Z and Nas are now friends, but who really won the beef?Fans did chose Nas as the winner,by declaring his song Ether as the best, but then again Nas signed for Jay-Z's label.

Tell us your opinion, who really won the beef,
JAY-Z or NAS?

                                             X1

Date of birth:?? 1979 (no relevant information about the birth date)
Place of birth:Brooklyn,New York,U.S.
Date deceased:July 5,2007 (aged 28)
Place of death:Las Vegas,Nevada,U.S.
Cause of death:Suicide

About X1:
I knew him only as a member of Onyx affiliate group,Gang Green, and also as a younger brother of much more famous rapper,Sticky Fingaz.
I first saw him in the Gang Green's music video, for the song ''I'll Murder You''.He was rapping in the end of the song.
I came across this song accidentally, when I searched some Onyx songs on the youtube. Now,I can't really tell if this was before or after X1's death, since I don't remember and I did not hear about his death until 2009,2 years after his death.
As far as the X1's rapping skills,I can say that he is very simmilar to his brother,Sticky Fingaz, but in the 1995 song,''I'll Murder You'',which I just mentioned,he was,I will dare to say, even better.I say this because all of these young rappers from the group Gang Green (which was composed of brothers and relatives of Onyx members),all of them rapped from the heart. That's why I really like this song,it's a pure rap, pure gangsta rap, rapped with so much energy. If you are real Gangsta Rap fan,be sure to check this song out.
Now let's say something about X1 in general, even though there are not many informations out there about him.

Generally About X1:
X1 (his real name is not known, but I assume his last name is Jones, since Sticky Fingaz's name is Kirk Jones),was born in Brooklyn,NY,U.S. in 1979.He is the brother of Onyx member,Sticky Fingaz and a cousin of another Onyx member,Fredro Starr. As a teenager,he joined the group Gang Green, which was composed of brothers and relatives of Onyx members. The group had only one notable single,''I'll Murder You'',in 1995.This song was also a skit on the Onyx album,''All We Got Iz Us'',but it was a little bit different than the actual song.
He was representing Southside Jamaica,Queens, like Sticky, and he was featured on every Onyx album, since the group's ''Shut 'Em Down album, from 1998.
It's interesting to mention that he appeared on the song ''React'',from the Onyx,in which 50 Cent first appeared. The song was released in 1998,and X1's verse came right after 50 Cent's.He was shortly signed to Mike Tyson's now defunct label Tyson Records. After that, his next and as it will turn, his last deal was with Ball 'R Records, which is based in Las Vegas, were he then lived and later was found dead. His last album was ''Young,Rich & Gangsta''.

X1's Death:
On July 5,2007,X1 was found dead in his Las Vegas hotel room.He committed suicide by shooting himself in the head. The reason was unknown.

                                  DOLLA

Date of birth:November 25,1987
Place of birth:Chicago,Illinois,U.S.
Date deceased:May 18,2009 (aged 21)
Place of death:Los Angeles,California,U.S.
Cause of death:Murder

About Dolla:

Dolla was one of the ''new age rappers'',and he was killed when he was at the very beginning of his career.Interestingly,I heard about him just about a month before his death, but didn't pay any attention to him at the time, because,to be honest with you,I wasn't really into his music at the time.

But then,in May,2009,just one or two days after his death,I saw somewhere on the internet that Dolla was killed. This got me interested in his life, and I checked on the youtube some of his songs.
Even though I'm not so much into ''new age rap'',and I'm more of mid 90s,and early 2000s rap songs fan,I really liked his song ''Who the Fuck Is That?'',which featured T-Pain and Tay Dizm.
It's kind of a party song to me,and to this day I can't imagine my parties without this song.
It's interesting to mention that Dolla stated in one interview, that he was inspired by 2pac's poem,''The Rose That Grew from Concrete''.
He was also shot, some time before his death, and had a tatoo on his stomach as a reminder.
His death proved that unfortunately,to this day,to be a rapper is a very dangerous profession. He died way to early and way to young.

Generally about Dolla:
Dolla (real name
Roderick Anthony Burton II) was born on November 25,1987 in Chicago,Illinois,U.S.However,he grow up in Decatur,Georgia. He had a twin brother, who died at birth, and two sisters.
A childhood was tough for him as he and his sister witnessed their father committing suicide by shooting himself.Dolla was only only 5 years old when that happened.
He began his career in the group called ''Da Razkalz Cru'',and later in the group called ''The Gang''.He went by the name Bucklyte,at the time.    The group signed with the label Elektra Records, and released the single ''So Fly'' in 2003.The single wasn't successful enough, and the group was dropped from the label shortly after.
But fortunately for Dolla,he caught the eye of Missy Elliot and P. Diddy, and after the group was dropped,Dolla started working as a model for Diddy's Sean John clothes line.Shortly after,Dolla met famous R&B singer,Akon. He signed him to his Konvict Muzik in 2007.Right after that, with the help of Akon and his own manager,he signed for the Jive Records. Then,on December 18,2007,Dolla's debut single,''Who the Fuck Is That?'',(featuring T-Pain,Tay Dizm, and Akon on the song's remix),which is his most successful and most famous song. The song reached nr. 82 on the Billboard Hot 100.He also had a song on the Step Up soundtrack a year before that, named ''Feelin' Myself''.which was interpretation of Mac Dre song of the same name. Two more singles were released in 2008,''I'm Fucked Up'',and ''Make a Toast''.
But problems for Dolla has started, when he was arrested in Atlanta,on October 20,2008,on weapon charges.

Dolla's Death:

On May 18,2009,Dolla flew to Los Angeles to record the rest of his album. At te Beverly Center in L.A.,he had an argument with Aubrey Louis Berry, with whom he had a fight in an Atlanta nightclub on May 7,2009.Berry went to the parking lot,and Dolla and his two friends followed him. After exchanging some words,Berry pulled out the gun,Dolla tried to escape, but Berry shoot him 4 times in the back. One bullet pierced through Dolla's heart,an that was the fatal wound from which he died.
Later that evening,Aubrey Louis Berry was arrested at the Los Angeles International Airport. He surrended without a struggle.
On May 22,2009,Berry was charged with murder and assault, but he pleaded not guillty.
At the trial,Berry's lawyer mentioned that Dolla and his friends beat him up in Atlanta on May 7,2009,just 11 days before Dolla's death.
Alleged motive for his beating was over the drink, which Berry accidentally spilled on a girl who was in Dolla's entourage.
It was also mentioned that Dolla had ties to a West Los Angeles street gang,Mansfield Gangster Crips, and that the lyrics of his songs were of violent content.
Berry also stated that he killed Dolla in self-defense,as he thought that Dolla was reaching for his gun.
However, prosecutors stated that no gun was found on the victim's body, and that his song lyrics were irrelevant, beacuse it is just an art,and many other successful rappers use violent lyrics too.
On May 21,2010,a jury acquitted Berry of first degree murder and all other charges.
Dolla's furneal was held May,23 in his hometown Atlanta, and was held in Muslim style, known as Janazah.

I will also add that, even though is very possible that Dolla is fault for his own death, because he did beat up Aubrey Louis Berry, and possibly threaten him,in this case,it's very hard to find out the real thruth. And there is also a video on youtube, from the Berry's trial, and to me,it was so hard to see Dolla's mother struggling through tears when a jury acquitted Berry, because the fact is that,he did kill him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtB0fX58AM0

As I said,it's hard to find out if Berry was really inocent or not,I will not make any conclusions, but I can end this post with the Dolla's own words,''Just whatever you tryna do,you gotta work hard at it,never give up,if you belive,it's gonna happen''.
